Sometimes on 1st Friday, we like to keep things VERY simple and just provide a relaxing place to stop in, share a drink, and enjoy some art. We'll have some music playing, but no live music for this one.
As Winter wanes and hibernation continues, February is generally still a slow time, so we will honor that with a simple, but warm gathering. Come and share a drink with us.

Join us for December First Friday on December 6th, 2024- 7-8:30pm
Katherine’s songwriting and soothing sound is influenced by her childhood in Ireland and from living in many other interesting cities throughout her life. Her listeners will hear a blend of country, bluegrass and soul with hints of Celtic, jazz, pop and folk in her songs. A musical experience for sure!
Her songs have been featured on CBS (The Young & the Restless), Netflix (Love is Blind), Bravo TV (Love Without Borders), Amazon Prime (Forever in the Hamptons) and CW Network (The Wranglers).
She writes in multiple genres with songwriters from all over the world and has participated in writing workshops with Liz Rose Studios in Nashville. She is an active member of the Nashville Songwriters Association International (NSAI) and the Indy Jazz Foundation.
She has been the opening act for Gabe Dixon and for Willy Porter and regularly performs at The Studio Theatre and The Jazz Kitchen. She performs at art and music festivals in the Midwest such as Penrod, Broad Ripple Arts Festival, Ethnic Expo, Carmel International Festival and more. Katherine regularly collaborates with Sarah Scharbrough, Tim Wright (from The Wright Brothers), Brett Wiscons, Jennie DeVoe and more.
Katherine has a large catalogue of original songs and recently released her second full length album,
“Sweetlove”

Art, drinks, music, and good company...what more could we ask for to kick off the month?
June 1st Friday will be a relaxed and soulful vibe with a solo performance by Ivan Moreland. You may have seen Ivan when he's supported the vocals of Akili Ni Mali and Taylor Davis, but this 1st Friday, we want to shine the spotlight on Ivan, who is an incredible artist in his own right. With smooth vocals, soulful keys, and some mellow cello, Ivan will find a special place in your heart. Not to mention, he's a really nice person. Be sure to meet him and say hi.
We also want to thank this month's sponsors, Propellerheads Inc. for providing refreshments and BELLOMO STUDIOS for bringing in the live entertainment. Both business owners will be on site to meet and share a drink with.
Community is about people connecting. We are people first before we have professions, hobbies, etc. It's important to take time to connect with your community as equals. Everyone has a story to tell and it deserves to be heard.
The best way to enjoy the arts is to not just experience finished, polished results, but learn about the ups and downs of the process, the stories that the artist is called to tell, and the inspiration that drives them day in and day out!
We are so fortunate the have the support of local businesses and community and like to do our part to help our community understand the value of art in our daily lives and the richness art brings to all communities.

Glebe Street Sidewalk Fest: Soul
You're invited! We are excited to announce the Glebe Street Sidewalk Fest: "Soul".
We will be partnering with Basket Pizzaz, West Clay Ortho, MacArthur Books, STROLL, & BELLOMO STUDIOS to bring you the Glebe Street Sidewalk Fest.
Join us on Sunday, July 23rd from 4-7pm, on Glebe Street across from University Park. The street will be closed for the event and you may bring lawn chairs & coolers. Food trucks will be present at the end of the street.
Three different musical acts will play down Glebe Street. Stages will be set & music will begin on the sidewalk in front of MacArthur Books, move down near West Clay Ortho, and end up in front of Behn Gallery/BELLOMO STUDIOS. 10 minutes of poetry will be presented at the end of each set.

Lilly's Boutique is coming to Behn Gallery!
Please join us for our July 1st Friday as we welcome Lilly's Wearable Art Boutique to Behn Gallery!
Joan 'Lilly' Carney opened her first store, Lily's Boutique, in 1992 and now has a storefront in Zionsville. She was inspired by fashion and began with sewing her own wearable art in 4th grade.
Encouraged to explore Lilly frequently travels the world with her love of fashion in hopes of continuously discovering more styles & fashions to incorporate into her store for her clients.
Lilly's has a vast array of clothing it provides. Such as jeans with embellishments and reversable jackets that are hand painted. Joan takes pride in not only providing beautiful and unique clothing items for her clients, but also striving to educate about the wonderful & talented artists that create these unique pieces.

Live Photography Demonstration with Roben Bellomo
We invite you to relax and enjoy a cup of coffee at Behn Gallery on Saturday, March 11th. This event is an opportunity for anyone interested to sit back, and enjoy observing and being a part of the session as Roben captures these incredible ballet dancers.
Live Irish Session-March First Friday!
Please join us as we welcome Blatherskite to Behn Gallery! Blatherskite will be performing live Irish music for our March First Friday community event. A History of Ballet
Join Behn Gallery for ‘A History of Ballet’. During this event a ballet instructor will be discussing the history of ballet and the ways it has grown & developed over the years as a traditional art form. Discussion will also include the tradition of ballet in reference to the works of Valery Kosorukov. We would love to include any ballet dancers interested as well as any dance enthusiasts. This event will offer the opportunity for our community to gather and learn more about the beautiful art of ballet.

Live Art Demonstration with Kosorukov
Join us as we gather at Behn Gallery to observe artist Valery Kosorukov. Kosorukov will be working with a dancer at the gallery as he sketches. We will have the wonderful opportunity to ‘look over his shoulder’, so to speak, and observe as he sketches.
Meet Artist Valery Kosorukov at Behn Gallery During our First Friday Event
Join us as we welcome guest artist, Valery Kosorukov, to Behn Gallery during our monthly First Friday community event. We will be hosting a casual ‘meet & greet’ as a way to encourage everyone to learn more about Kosorukov. There will be a group discussion, led by collaborating artist and gallery owner, Roben Bellomo. We will be discussing Kosorukov’s works, learning more about his story, and understanding his work and how it relates to the gallery. We will also be revealing what artwork Kosorukov will be displaying, this display will stay with us through March of 2023.

First Friday, a community inspired event designed to encourage a gathering of our community and a love for art. Our November First Friday will feature DiscomBOBulated. We are excited to welcome back DiscomBOBulated, a local Indiana rock band. We enjoy discovering new art and growing through art, First Friday is an event that truly fosters that discovery and growth. Whether it's an amazing band or artist playing live, helping people connect with art and all it's different forms, or simply enjoying wonderful conversation with a community we appreciate.
Our November First Friday will begin at 7pm on November 4th, and will end around 8:30pm.

Photographer Roben Bellomo, of Behn Gallery, will share artistic perspectives that reflect the Unseen through a showcase of intricate and timeless images. Speaker Todd Fink, of the Kind Mind podcast, will expand on this topic relating to ways we can explore our own awareness to things Unseen.
In appreciation of art, learning, and community, this will be a friendly-filled and awe-inspiring event with nourishing conversation and enjoyable refreshments!
Registration is required due to limited space.

Learn About Educational Trips Abroad with Jim & Roben
Our September First Friday will be based around the tours Behn Gallery offers. We will discuss the photographic, art, and historical education we will be providing both leading up to and during the tours. Behn Gallery hosts a variety of tours, led by Jim Hamel. He has led tours in multiple locations, including Ireland & France. Jim will be available for discussion via zoom from 7:30pm-8:30pm EST; as well as attendees of our future tour that is occurring later in September in Ireland. For the first time, this Friday, February 4th, Behn Gallery is presenting to the general public the 2022 Team USA World Photographic Cup Portfolio! This will be on display through the final ceremonies on March 28th where we will livestream the event and learn the WPC Gold Cup Recipient! 35 countries are competing in this year's World Photographic Cup.

Looking Back at our First Year in the Village- A First Friday Art Event
Behn Gallery is hosting an exciting event this Friday, the 1st. We will be showing how we stretch canvas as well as remembering where we were and where we are headed. We will have many 'new' art pieces up. These art pieces were up when we first started in this space and they are up once again. It's a wonderful opportunity for those of you who just joining us and may not have seen any of this art before. We will be hosting this even from 7pm-8:30pm, we look forward to seeing you then!
Fall Festival 2021
Behn Gallery & Bellomo Studios will be open and adding to the festivities during Village of Westclay's Fall Festival. The Fall Festival will be this Sunday, October 3rd and will run from 2-4:30pm.
